White Day by Saekaeru White Day by Saekaeru
My entry for :iconichiruki-club: White Day Contest

White Day is a Japanese holiday which is more or less a follow-up for Valentine's Day.
If a guy received chocolate from a girl on Valentine's Day, he can give her something white in return as a sign of reciprocation.

Anyway, scan looked like crap (still looks like crap) so ended up doing a lot of editing in Photoshop.
Also added this paper background to make it look more like a photograph or a card.. of sorts.

±12 hours.
Used Copic paper, Sakura Micron pens, Copic Ciao and Photoshop CS2.

Thank you! :la: I didn't know much about it before either.
I think they also celebrate White Day in Fruits Basket, in case you've ever seen that anime

No, I haven't. I only watch Bleach. Did they mention White Day in the most recent episode of Bleach?

No I don't think it's been mentioned at all in Bleach for as far as I remember. Would be very interesting if they did though! :iconpervyichigoplz:
I think Tite Kubo did make a lot of drawings with Bleach characters holding chocolate hearts and such last February/March though :la:

Hm, okay. Just wondering. But yeah, that would be nice. Heaven forbid, there might be a pinch of romance!!! It's annoying when a TV show uses way too much lewd behavior as a substitute for good material, but with Bleach, it seems like they're going out of their way to avoid it. I mean, they ARE mostly teens and young people, it's frustrating that there is such a void of romantic material in it!

Oh well, that's just my opinion. XD

Yeah I think that's frustrating as well >.<
Most people would say it's because it's a shounen and not a shoujo,
but I still think there is no harm in adding some romance or other
shoujo-elements. After all, there are a lot of female Bleach fans,
and I think male viewers/readers wouldn't mind seeing more of it also.
It's indeed like there are trying to avoid it through excessive lewd behaviour.
And whatever love or romance there is is either one-sided, ends tragically
or just remains underneath the surface. Quite a shame when you think about it :/

Good to know I'm not alone! Well, I don't know what that means (Japanese for male/female?) but yeah, my brother tells me it's supposed to be more of a guy show than a girl show but at least in the fan world, 99% of the art/fanfiction is by girls! (hense all the dreaming about romances not actually taking place ;-D)
Well, I meant I can see why they would shy away from putting love stories in it because it seems these days if you add a little romance it gets out of control and becomes nothing but characters jumping into bed together, (which has no substance to it and I find it annoying)but on the other hand a show (with a lot of female viewers!) that is completely devoid of romance is...a bummer. But you're right, they seem to prefer more...bawdy, to use an archaic term, interactions between the characters. Like the way Rangiku's form is so frequently mentioned.
I would enjoy a long-lasting relationship between Ichigo and Orihime OR Rukia. (I'm undecided on which pair I like better) But I don't mean sleeping together. Just a sweet relationship. ♥ The way it should be.

Yes shounen is Japanese for boy and shoujo means girl. They also use them as terms to signify what kind of manga you are reading, one that is oriented toward boys or one that is oriented toward girls. Shounen are usually action-pacted while shoujo are more about romance, feelings, and slice of life. I think Bleach already has some shoujo-elements in it (lots of slice of life, Orihime and her crush, etc.) but they could take it to another level, and like you say have some romance take place
I totally agree with you though, it should just be a sweet relationship and nothing over the top or without substance. It doesn't even have to be one of the main characters (though I personally won't mind if IchiRuki is taken to another level :la:), it would be nice just to have some more of it. Because as you have said, it seems completely devoid of romance or love except for in the way of unreciprocated crushes.

Perhaps Kubo is a bit like Ichigo and he's too shy to draw kissing or other intimate acts :lmao:
Or perhaps it's really just a cultural difference. Relationships are quite different in Japan from what I understand of it and they often seem hesitant to address relationships in most shounen (Fullmetal Alchemist as well for example) and love is more often implied rather than actually shown.
